Cinema in Eindhoven
In Eindhoven there are four different locations where film fanatics can watch all the newest films. Whether these cinemas offer the newest big Hollywood films or the latest low-budget but more culturally involved film, the four different cinemas in Eindhoven have it all.
Four different cinemas are located in Eindhoven. These are:
– Pathé
– Service Bioscoop Zien
– Plaza Futura (Natlab)
– Vue Cinema
The biggest two cinemas are Pathé and Vue Cinema. These two cinemas offer a great variety of new popular films. Huge technological progress has also affected the film industry as both Pathé and Vue Cinema offer the 3D experience. Pathé offers a special film theatre with IMAX which improves the film experience. Vue Cinema competes with its Dolby Cinema and Atmos atmosphere while also providing IMAX.
Service Bioscoop Zien also offers 3D films but distinguishes itself with its special service, hence the name includes the word service. During the film you can order food and drinks by simply pressing a button, then a waiter will come to your seat and take your order which will later on be served.
Natlab, housed in the Plaza Futura, offers a great variety of less popular movies but with more cultural weight. Lesser known movies and even documentaries are depicted in this cinema.

Swimming Pool
Indoor swimming pools in Eindhoven:
– Ir. Ottenbad Zwembad
– Nationaal Zwemcentrum de Tongelreep
Swimming pool ‘de Tongelreep’ had a big swimming pool with slides but this is closed. Another pool, the 25 meter pool, is still open for public.
Next to having indoor swimming pools, Eindhoven has some outdoor swimming pools where the visitors can swim under the clear blue sky. When the usually ”not so great” weather in Eindhoven allows for outdoor swimming, the outdoor swimming areas are a great joy.
Museums Eindhoven
The city of Eindhoven has a lot of history dominated by economic prosperity delivered by DAF and Philips. These two companies both brought jobs to Eindhoven and made the city a growing municipality. Eindhoven has grown to be the fifth most population municipality in the Netherlands. Philips also is the company that founded football club PSV Eindhoven. The PSV Museum shows off all the trophies that PSV has won in its more than 100 years history. A special themed village has been built to showcase a prehistoric lifestyle. This prehistoric village is called the ‘Prehistories Dorp’. Employees of the Prehistories Dorp walk around in prehistoric clothes and portray the prehistoric way of living. The ‘Van Abbemuseum’ offers art in its most pure form. The Van Abbemuseum offers art from Picasso and other famous artists and challenges visitors to think about art and to think about the role of art in the modern world.

Football
Football is a big part of Dutch culture, everywhere Dutchmen go they will get confronted with the history of total football, Johan Cruijf and the golden Ajax of the 70s. All three of these mentions will give credits to Amsterdam for the Dutch football history… Lately however, Eindhoven has been the Dutch capital of football and not Amsterdam given the fact that since 2000, the city of Eindhoven, has provided 9 out of 17 Dutch champions.
The city of Eindhoven has two professional football clubs:
– PSV Eindhoven
– FC Eindhoven
The biggest of the two clubs is PSV Eindhoven, the reigning and 23 time champion of the Netherlands. Additionally, the club has won the European Cup in 1988 and the UEFA Cup in 1978. The smaller of the two clubs, FC Eindhoven, has once won the Dutch national championship in 1954 but currently plays in the Dutch First Division (second-tier in Dutch football). Football matches at home is a joy with both clubs. The Philips Stadion, with its 35.000 capacity, hosts atmospherically great home matches for PSV Eindhoven. The smaller Jan Louwers Stadion, 4.200 capacity, has a fanatical crowd which will surely liven up home matches of FC Eindhoven.
PSV Eindhoven has a complete English written site available due to its strong international connection to world football. However, FC Eindhoven has an English site as well. Read both websites and make up your mind whether you would like to visit, support and enjoy one of our regional prides!
